MatStress Engineering completed a detailed study on the remaining life calculations of six different furnaces of a leading refinery in Pakistan. The insitu-metallography was conducted on the furnace tubes. The microstructure of the tubes and their diametric changes with surface hardness were correlated to calculate the remaining creep life of furnace tubes. API 530 and 579 (FFS) recommendations were used to validate the results.
